Anxiety encompasses feelings of fear, worry, and apprehension about future events. It is a common and natural response to stress — a warning system that alerts us to danger. However, at times anxiety can become constant or overwhelming, interfering with daily activities and affecting our well-being. As we age, the challenges and transitions we face can sometimes heighten feelings of anxiety.
Join LASM for a special workshop on anxiety with Dr. Agnes Jos Elking, PhD LPC of The Sol Institute. This workshop has been designed to help individuals understand and manage anxiety as they navigate the aging process with the goal of reducing anxiety and enhancing overall well-being.
In this workshop, participants will:
Explore Anxiety and Aging: Gain insights into how aging can affect anxiety levels.
Learn Effective Strategies: Discover a range of practical techniques for managing anxiety.
Build Resilience: Develop skills to build emotional resilience and cope with common stressors associated with aging.
Enhance Self-Care: Learn about self-care practices that can help mitigate anxiety.
Foster Social Connections: Understand the role of social support in managing anxiety and explore ways to strengthen social networks and community ties.
This workshop will be held on Friday, September 20th at 10:00am in Memorial Hall of Southwest Baptist Church at 6401 Scanlan Avenue. Free to attend. Reservations at least 24 hours in advance are appreciated. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.
